England received a body-blow right at the stumps when Ravindra Jadeja ended Alastair Cook’s resistance. Cook’s wicket has set up the final day’s play nicely, with more fight expected off England in Vizag for saving the game.

Cook (54) and Haseeb Hameed (25) showed a lot of grit, and stitched a 75-run partnership. The former, however, survived a couple of very close leg-before reviews. But, he again played a wonderful innings for his side.

India, meanwhile, dismissed both the English openers in the last 10 overs of the day. When the stumps were called, England were 87/2, with Joe Root (5 not out) in the middle. They are still 318 runs behind.

“Both openers showed great temperament,” Broad said. “We would have taken two down at stumps going in. Fantastic day for us. We have shown a lot of skill apart from a disappointing hour on day two.”

“We are still in this Test match,” the England seamer added. “It will be great to sit and chat with those who batted this afternoon. And, take that into the next day.”

Ravichandran Ashwin drew first blood when he trapped Hameed plumb. The English opener didn’t even asked for a review and walked away. Once Hameed got dismissed, the Indian started to look completely different.

They produced a lot of close moments, and continued to create pressure, especially Jadeja. The left-armer finally managed to do what he was looking for in the final over of the day, and dismissed Cook.
