The Indians got a pitch that turned, after putting runs on the board, and they tightened the screws in Vizag. When the stumps were called on Day 2, England found themselves five wickets down. They had just 103 runs on the board.

Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes were battling it out in the middle at the end of day’s play. They have stitched an unbeaten 23-run stand for the sixth wicket. The England team are trailing by 352 runs in the 2nd Test.

England captain Alastair Cook (2) was the first to go. He got a beauty from Mohammad Shami, who broke his off-stump into two. Then, Haseeb Hameed and Joe Root built a 47-run partnership to steady the innings.

Hameed (13) was the next to go. A throw from Jayant Yadav and excellent glovework from Wriddhiman Saha found Hameed short of his ground. Ben Duckett (5) soon followed, as Ravichandran Ashwin spun his magic.

Ashwin later dismissed a well-set Joe Root (53), who got caught at the long-off. Root tried to unsettle Ashwin, but misjudged the moment. Just a run was added to the score, when England were jolted further.

Yadav got his maiden Test wicket, when he trapped Moeen Ali (1) right in front. The umpire had given Ali not out, but the Indians asked for a review, which showed the ball crashing on the leg stump.

Bairstow (12 not out) and Stokes (12 not out) made a watchful partnership. The duo ensured that England receive no more jolts in the remaining overs. They now have a massive task in hand on a pitch that has started to turn.
