India vs Australia 4th Test Day 1: Kuldeep Sinks Australia, After Smith’s Ton

What more can you ask from a debutant? Kuldeep Yadav scripted an amazing comeback in Dharamsala to bundle Australia for 300 in the opening day. He picked four wickets to dismantle Australia’s middle order.

Kuldeep made his debut in place of Virat Kohli, who failed to pass the fitness test in the morning. He, meanwhile, grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and repaid the faith shown by the team management over him.

Umesh Yadav also bowled with a lot of sting and picked a couple of wickets. He and Bhuvneshwar Kumar swung the new-ball, but failed to contain the Aussie pair of David Warner and Steve Smith, who added 134 runs.

After Warner’s (56) departure, India put the breaks on the scoring rate and picked wickets at regular intervals. Smith, however, went on to make his third hundred of the series. He Added crucial runs for his side.

Ravichandran Ashwin took the prize wicket of Smith (111). Matthew Wade (57), meanwhile, frustrated the Indians with his gritty knock. But, he was eventually dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. Nathan Lyon was the last to depart.

The Indians had just one over to negotiate at the end, and KL Rahul survived Josh Hazlewood’s six deliveries. Despite a comeback, India have a massive task in hand on a pitch that has something for both spinners and pacers.
