The pitch for the 3rd Test at Ranchi’s JSCA Stadium is likely to assist the spinners. In the previous two Tests, spinners played a vital role. The ball started turning from the first session itself.

Both Tests in Pune and Bengaluru, couldn’t reach the final day’s play. The JSCA chief curator SB Singh, meanwhile, insisted that it is difficult to say how the pitch going to turn before the start of the Test match.

“Whether the pitch is flat or a turner, will only be known when the match is played,” Chakraborty said. “Generally in the ODIs, the par score here is 250 and the pitch provides turn as the game progresses.”

“Since it is the first Test the city is going to host, we would like it to be a five-day affair,” he added.

Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon, however, is not much concerned about the nature of pitch.

“We all expect that over here,” Lyon said. “So we know what we’re going to get. It’s going to be the same for both sides, so let’s just go out and play cricket.”
