Six months ago, India’s pace attack consisted of Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami. Before the home series against New Zealand, Ishant had to leave the squad due to ‘Chikungunya’ and thus took some time to recover.
By the time, Ishant returned for the England series, India had already rediscovered Umesh Yadav’s form. From that series, Umesh went from strength to strength. He also kept the wish of his captain Virat Kohli in mind all the time.

He is always ready to bowl both long and short spells and usually sticks to the basic theory of attacking. Therefore, when Umesh emerged as one of the most successful campaigner against Australia, it wasn’t a surprise.

Umesh is fast, can move the ball and can also keep the batsmen guessing with the kind of line he would be bowling. Maybe in comparison he is isn’t as good as Mitchell Starc, but Umesh’s rising curve of success is unquestionable.
This champ is certainly improving by leaps and bounds. His good form is certainly a good sign for the Indian team.
