India suffered an astonishing collapse at the MCA Stadium to hand over a crucial lead to Australia on Day 2. The Aussies bundled the Indians for a paltry 105 in the first innings to take a 155-run lead in the 1st Test.
Steven O’Keefe (6 for 35) took a fifer on a crumbling pitch to leave the Indian team in tatters. His stellar performance in the post-lunch session left the both the Indian team and the fans shaken. Nathan Lyon chipped-in with one.

At one time the Indians were placed comfortable with well-set KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane. But, they lost seven wickets for just 11 runs in a space of 20-odd minutes, and reduced to their fifth lowest total against Australia.
Earlier, India looked in control with Rahul in the middle. The Indian opener added crucial runs with Rahane, and also completed his fifty. But, a bad stroke cost him his wicket, and sparked the collapse.
Australia’s quicks also played their part in dismantling India’s star-studded top-order. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood give early blows , dismissing Murali Vijay (10), Cheteshwar Pujara (6) and Virat Kohli (0).
The visitors, meanwhile, had scored an impressive 260 in their first innings on a rank turner. Matt Renshaw and Starc scored fifties, while Steve Smith and Peter Handscomb made useful contributions.
