The 1st Test seems to be heading towards a draw, as the batsmen made merry on Day 4 in Rajkot. England have build a healthy lead at stumps. Their openers have stitched an unbeaten 114-run stand.

“It was a crucial partnership, hopefully they can carry on tomorrow,” Adil Rasheed said. “Haseeb knows his game, he works hard in the nets. I felt okay, it was nice to get a long bowl and get into a rhythm.”

The English team now leads the match by 163 runs with a day’s play left. Earlier, India posted 488 in their first innings thanks to centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay.

India conceded a 49-run lead in their first innings. Ravichandran Ashwin (70) made a useful contribution with the lower-order to help the Indian team shrink England’s lead, and giving a fitting reply to England’s total.

Rashid was England’s pick of the bowlers and took four wickets. Moeen Ali and Zafar Ansari took two each, while Stuart Broad and Ben Stoke took one apiece.
