India limited-overs skipper, MS Dhoni will join other world-class stars at the Kia Oval for the inaugural international Help for Heroes fundraiser, Cricket for Heroes.
An inspirational captain and Indian sporting icon, MS Dhoni is widely regarded as one of the greatest ever wicketkeeper batsman to have graced the game.
Looking ahead to Cricket for Heroes, MS Dhoni said: “I am delighted to be joining so many cricketing superstars at the Kia Oval on Thursday September 17 and supporting such a worthy cause.”
“I’ve always enjoyed playing cricket in England and I would urge all sports fans to support Help for Heroes on September 17 and watch some truly world class performers in action.”
MS Dhoni will join fellow India star Virender Sehwag, Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi and South African ace Herschelle Gibbs in the Help for Heroes XI captained by England Director of Cricket Andrew Strauss and managed by the legendary Sir Ian Botham.
They will take on a Rest of the World XI containing Brendon McCullum, Matthew Hayden, Mahela Jayawardene and Graeme Smith as well as players such as Kiwis Scott Styris and Daniel Vettori. The team will be coached by Gary Kirsten and managed by the great Indian Sunil Gavaskar.
