The Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni was delighted with his team’s thumping seven wickets win over the Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League.
With this win, the Super Kings not only ensured that they would be finishing the league stage on the top, but would get two bites of the cheery to reach the final.
“It just gives you that extra match,” Dhoni said. “If you have that one bad game, it gives you another chance to get into the final. We took it as a game we have to win but we were not desperate.”
Dhoni also pointed out that the wicket was on a slower side, and he utilised the conditions quite well by using the spinners in tandems, as the Kings XI could only manage to score 130.
“It was a slightly slow wicket and the spinners bowled very well on this track,” Dhoni pointed out. “At times on a wicket like this you try to aim too big. 150 would have been a good total on this wicket.”
Dhoni was all praise for all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who not only bowled well, but also fielded brilliantly. Jadeja took David Miller’s catch in the deep to any hope of Punjab’s revival.
“David Miller’s catch was a fantastic one,” the Chennai Super Kings skipper said. “Jadeja made it look easy and it was a great effort. The art lies in making it look easy.”
