Bangladesh might be without Shakib Al Hasan in the Asia Cup T20 final, as their star allrounder has suffered a blow in the right thigh during a net session.
Missing Shakib will be a big blow for the Tigers, who will be facing an in-form Indian team in the final. India have won all their matches in the tournament so far.
They defeated Bangladesh in the opening match of the tournament, and are heading as clear favorites to clinch the title before starting their title quest in the World T20.
Bangladesh team physio, Bayejidul Islam Khan, however, is hopeful that Shakib will able to recover in time for the final match as he is recovering pretty well right now.
“Shakib got this injury during training on Friday,” Bayejidul said. “We call it a contusion, after he was struck on the hip flexor of his thigh muscle.”
“He is quite well now. It was optional training today and we had asked him not to train. But he still went at it for a while though he didn’t practice much.”
“He will recover before tomorrow’s match,” he concluded. “Normally it takes 48 hours to recover, and we are hoping that it is the case.”
