Ashes Series: England found the missing piece of the puzzle?

After the England and Wales Cricket Board completely overruled Kevin Pietersen’s comeback into the national side, not many had a belief that Alastair Cook and his men could win a Test match in the Ashes series.

The critics agreed on one point: England doesn’t have the experience to stand tall against the mighty Australians in the ongoing Ashes series. But in reality, something else happened.

After three Tests, England have already pocketed two matches and are convincingly leading by a 2-1 margin against the Aussies, who were supposed to be a better team.

England won the first match if the Ashes series at Cardiff by a very handsome margin and went out to lose the second Test by a huge margin at Lord’s.

The difference between the two sides in the second match was so wide that even the most hardcore believer of this English team would have put his money on Australia in the third Test.

England once again came from behind to surprise the Aussies by eight wickets at Edgbaston on Friday. If the last two matches lasted for two days, this match was over in three days time.

Well done England! Right now, even the Aussies will be wary of their opponent. Michael Clarke and his men were beaten in all departments of the game and will not take England lightly in this Ashes series.

You can beat them by playing better cricket, but they will keep coming back with strong performances. In other words, it’s increasingly getting difficult for Australia to stamp their authority.

It’s unbelievable to imagine that way Steven Finn bowled in the Edgbaston Test. In all, he took eight wickets, two in the first innings and six in the second.

It was also unbelievable to think about the England pace battery without James Anderson. But it all happened in front of the Edgbaston spectators.

By winning at Edgbaston, England extended their win-loss pattern in seven Tests – WLWLWLW – involving three different countries: West Indies, New Zealand and Australia.
