Bowling successfully at the highest level depends on three factors – conditions, how well you adjust to the match situation and how you tackle the batting style of the opponent team.

As in the previous there games, the 4th ODI in Canberra was no different for the Indian bowlers. They pitched the ball too full, short, wide and offered plenty of room to the hosts.

Towards the end, Indian pacers Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav pulled back things a little bit and as a result of which, Australia made 348 for eight.

Their poor bowling in the last two over of the Australian innings helped the hosts to regain lost momentum. After Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell’s big scores in the previous games, David Warner, who returned from paternity leave, and Aaron Finch made most of the Indian bowling and scored 187 runs for the opening wicket.

India’s first success came in the 30th over when Warner dragged a Ishant Sharma delivery into the middle-stump. The Aussie opener was also unlucky to have missed a century, which Finch did manage to complete.

Towards the end, Smith too joined the party and made a fluent 29-ball 51, while Maxwell made a 20-ball 41 before getting out on the last ball of the Australia innings.

India had fielded five bowlers for the match, still they could do the right things. After a good show in Melbourne, Ravindra Jadeja bowled with a lot of momentum.

Umesh took three wickets to his credit, but the zip which he had produced during the 2015 World Cup in Australia was clearly missing.

Even Ishant too bowled well in patches and was particularly impressive in the closing overs. He also picked up four wickets to his credit.

In fact, both Ishant and Yadav staged a good comeback in the slog overs. They varied their pace, bowled a few good slower one to contain the flow of runs. But their effort wasn’t good enough to stop the invincible Aussies.
