India Gets Top Spot in ODI Rankings

Indian cricket team under the captaincy of Virat Kohli has reclaimed number one position in the International Cricket Council (ICC), one-day international (ODI) rankings. India has taken the lead by 2-0 in the five day series against Australia being played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday. This is the eighth victory in a row in Odi’s for the Indian team.

Kuldeep Yadav’s hat- trick in the end of the innings, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s splendid performance, Virat Kohli’s (92) and Ajinkya Rahane’s (55) in the opening led to India’s win against Australia by 50 runs in the second ODI.

Indian spinners let Australia helpless. After Steve Smith’s (59)wicket Australian team hopes disappeared.

Yadav became the third Indian bowler to take a one-day international hat-trick. Yadav took the wickets of  Matthew Wade, Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins. With this hat-trick, Yadav has joined the league of Chetan Sharma (against New Zealand in 1987) and Kapil Dev (against Sri Lanka in 1991) as India’s hat-trick achievers in an ODI. Overall, in the ICC rankings he has become the fifth Indian bowler to have achieved this milestone in the ODI’s.

The third ODI will be played on Sunday in Indore.
